Pomona, CA

The 2009 season is in the books, as the last race of the year concluded last weekend in Pomona, California. After a month off from racing, all of the riders and crew including myself were ready to get back to the track for the series finale. Practice was cut down to two timed qualifying sessions instead of the normal three with one being a "free" session.  Qualifying was average for me, as I have been having an up and down GNC season. I ended the session in an overall time of 14th with being tied for 13th. For the heat we were going to have a second row, first pick start. I got a great start from the second row and headed into turn 1 on the start of the second heat. I came out of the turn in 8th place battling for the last direct transfer spot of 7th place. After halfway I took 7th place away from the rider and started to push forward. I was gaining ground on the leaders in front of me, but was just running out of laps. On the last lap, a rider ahead of me crashed giving me the six place finish for the heat. In the main I got an ok start from up high and pushed it hard. I was moving up and going backwards at the same time it felt like. There was a rider that crashed leading to give me a position as well, but it wasn’t enough. The AMA shortened my main, so they could give the WCFTS classes time to run their mains. As we normally only have 12 laps to make something happen, 8 was just not enough for a GNC main event with all 18 riders fast enough to win. I passed 4 people alone on the last lap in turn 1 to give me 13th place for the night. I was happy with my finish considering the laps we had and with how rough the track was getting. For the 2009 season I ended with a 3rd in the Hotshoe Pro Singles Class, a 1st in the Hotshoe Pro Twins Class, and a 9th in the GNC Pro Singles Class. We had an up and down year with positions, but I want to thank my team, family, and sponsors for sticking together. My family has had a lot of health problems come up unexpected in the family, but we stayed strong and worked together as a team. I am looking forward to a great 2010 season and I hope to get strong some 2010 450s under me, so horsepower won't be a reoccurring issue for my team in 2010 as well as stay on my awesome prepared H-D XR 750's. Once again thanks to everyone on a great memorable 2009 season and I'll see everyone in 2010.
